the last few weeks....

So here is some catching up:
Christmas was great but busy (as always). We had a wonderful time with family. Ace was spoiled rotten by family and Santa. He loves all of his new toys and his "ball game shirts" as he likes to call them. I was looking forward to being home yesterday and getting some things done around the house to recover from the holiday. I thought surely that Mr. Man would play with all of his new things well....that nice thought went right down the toilet with the rest of the day. I love being home with him and my life is pretty awesome but lets just be honest here. Some days start off with great plans that by 1 hour into that day have been completely flushed! I know that I have this need to get everything done seeing how I have 5 weeks till my due date. So of course I had to shed a few tears over the crappy day. But the day ended well. We went to the Thunder game as a family then Jacob stopped and got me a coke float on the way home. The Thunder lost but these two continued to play some bball after we got home and they were just too cute...(don't be fooled that basketball goal is not Ace's...it's Jacob's) Here are my Thunder player wannabes...

For those of you who like baby news, Allison seems to be doing great! So great that I have measured 2 weeks ahead of schedule for the past 2 appts. So last week at 34 weeks I measured 36 weeks. Now I'm not so sure how little she is going to be. We have an ultrasound scheduled next week to check her size. So that could be adding to my feelings of wanting to get things done because we may not have 5 weeks left till she comes if she is getting too big we may be seeing her sooner.

It's December!

WOW! Where has the year gone. In spite of all the sickness here at the Eck house we managed to get our Christmas tree and a few decorations up. Ace loves the tree and as soon as he gets up in the morning insist on me turning the lights on. He also loves to take the decorations off the tree. At times it's a bit irritating but I told Jacob that come January we will be thrilled that the decorations are coming off without us having to do it. Besides I really feel like all of this stuff is for him and if he is enjoying it by taking things off and moving them around, then he can have at it! So if you come to the Eck house be prepared to see a very imperfect tree with a happy little boy walking around it. You may look at the tree but I'll be watching the little man that is smiling and placing ornaments all over my house! Here are a few pictures of our decorating....
And on the Baby note of things...I do NOT like to take pregnant pictures so for those of you who want to see what I look like at 32 weeks pregnant...enjoy. I look like a barn!

Seeing something in a different way...

So for those of you who live around here most of you probably love the trains as much as I do. I always get so annoyed having to stop and wait for them. Plus, for those of you who don't know, I have always hated...i mean hated trains. I hate the sound and the rumbling feeling when your close...I hate everything about them. Here lately I'm having a different opinion about them. You see...I have a two year old little boy who LOVES trains! And today when we had to stop for a train I turned to watch him and his eyes lit up and he kept saying choo choo over and over. For the first time ever I enjoyed sitting and waiting on a train! What is something that you dislike or even hate that you might could find joy in???

Thankful

So with Thanksgiving coming next week I thought I should probably do my thankful post! Where to begin???? I'll just give you a list:
1. Thankful for a wonderful God who blesses my life daily.
2. Thankful for Ace. For all the times he makes me smile, laugh, and want to pull my hair out!
3. Thankful for Jacob. He is a wonderful dad, husband, and friend. Still glad he asked me to marry him!
4. My family. I have wonderful parents, grandparents, sister, in-laws, sibling-in-laws, aunts, uncles....I could go on about these people for ever. They are always there when you need them and when you don't.
5. My Friends! I love all of our friends that we go to church with (Becca even though you are in Korea you still count). I love my girls that helped me survive college (you know who you are).
6. Thankful for the church and our church family.
7. I am thankful for our home, cars, and all of the silly material things that we think we have to have.
8. I am thankful to be a stay at home mommy! And refer to number 3...the awesome man that works so hard that I can stay home.
9. I am thankful for the little girl we are expecting in January.
10. I am thankful for the ups and downs in life, and the trials that help us enjoy the victories.
I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are planning on doing what we love...spending time with family!

And now for a picture...just because...and hopefully it will make you smile like it does me!..Because who really needs pants when you have cowboy boots! :)

Tomorrow = Special Day

I have tried to fix this post so the text goes with the correct picture but for some reason today blogger keeps mixing it all up...grrr..

Tomorrow is a very special day for 2 different reasons. First of all tomorrow is Veterans Day. My grandfather Alex fought in WWII. I am so thankful and proud of him and all the men and women that have served our country. Here is a couple of pictures of him.

Reason #2 for tomorrow being a special day is.... a couple that I know is celebrating 61 years of marriage! They are a wonderful example of a christian marriage! And I have to brag a little...I get to call them Granny and Grandad. So a very happy anniversary to these two...

As you can see from this picture of their anniversary last year...they have not changed one bit! :) Still in love.....

Baby Eck...

I haven't updated about baby Eck that is due in January in a while so here is the news. I had a Dr. appt yesterday and one today. Yesterday went great I did not realize how close to the end this pregnancy was coming until they said...."we will now be seeing you every two weeks"....oh my that went fast! Then today we had a special ultrasound because at my 20 week ultrasound my placenta was too low. Now I am 28 weeks and we received good news that it had moved up and everything looked great! Baby Eck still looks like a girl and approximately weighs 2.5 lbs. She is balled up and seems to like to keep her hands and feet right next to her face! We finally at the end got one really good look at her face and she looks like ACE did in his 3D ultrasound! I can't wait to see her and see if they really do look alike. And as much as I want to see her I know she needs to wait a little longer to come.
It has been a wonderful and crazy year. We lost one baby and are now expecting another. This in someways is a hard month because this would have been the month that the baby we lost was due. But days like today make me happy and thrilled that we are able to have children and as far as we can tell from the ultrasound it looks like a healthy baby! God is so good to us. We are blessed beyond measure. So today I hope you are feeling as blessed by God as we are!!!

Hopefully I can scan ultrasound pics and post them sometime soon!

The weekend....

So Jacob may get mad at me but it will be worth it for you to hear this story! Let's just say he always makes me laugh and this time is no different. Well....here is the deal. We kept getting mice in our house and could not figure out how they were getting in! Well thanks to our dog Zeus who was going crazy by the back door we finally figured out how they were getting in and fixed the problem. We had a small hole between the foundation and the brick by our back door. Moving on.... So we had set several traps plus put down one sticky trap thing. Zeus stuck his head in the bottom of the pantry where the sticky trap and the real trap were. Jacob saw him do this and ran over to grab him so he didn't get hurt. Too late....he didn't get hurt but as Jacob grabbed him he kinda accidentally pushed his head down and the sticky trap stuck to his Zeus' face! Jacob said Zeus was going crazy so he grabbed the sticky trap to pull it off his face...well amazingly it came off no problem. Then Jacob looked at the trap and realized not only did Zeus get stuck to the trap but so did a little mouse and he was still there! So long story short you can catch a dog and a mouse on one sticky trap!

Now for the weekend... It was great! My mom came up Thursday and we have been running around like crazy women trying to get some stuff done that we need to before the holidays. Dad came up on Saturday to watch the game and then went to church with us on Sunday. Mom is still here. She is staying here for a bit to watch ACE because I have doctor appointments the next two days and one of them I can't take ACE with me. It is so nice to have her here and we are having a blast! I hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend too...despite the terrible OU game! :)
